Car expert Luke Chillingsworth has named the new Porsche 911 Carrera S coupe as the one vehicle he would buy in a heartbeat if he won the lottery. Writing for Express.co.uk, the cars reporter described the eighth-generation 992 model as the best car currently on the road for anyone wanting something new, fast and cutting-edge.
A lifelong Porsche fan
Chillingsworth said he has always been a fan of 911s and has a classic 1970s model on his bucket list. However, if his lottery numbers came in tomorrow, he would head straight to a dealership for the latest Carrera S, which he called "absolutely stunning".
The new model retains the classic 911 silhouette but adds aggressive styling tweaks, including a redesigned rear bumper, a new engine grille and large wheels - 20-inch at the front and 21-inch at the rear.
Power and performance
Under the hood sits a 3.0-litre twin-turbo six-cylinder boxer engine producing 480hp, with a 0-62mph time of 3.3 seconds and a top speed of 191mph. Inside, the coupe comes with black standard leather sport seats, a 10.9-inch touchscreen display and a customisable 12.6-inch curved LCD screen that replaces the physical speedometer.
Owners without a budget can add extras such as contrast stitching on the seats, a Bose surround sound system and an electric sunroof.
Costs to consider
Getting the keys to a Porsche was never going to be cheap, with average fuel efficiency of around 27mpg. This could rise to 30mpg when cruising on the motorway, but pressing down on the throttle and enjoying that 480hp will see economy rates plummet.
Upfront costs are also way out of most people's budgets, with models selling for well over £120,000. Chillingsworth said he will be keeping his fingers crossed that his lottery numbers come in this weekend.
