Nearly 10 months after its initial launch, the Dyson Airwrap Co-anda 2x remains a staple in my beauty routine, a rare feat given the constant stream of new products. The tool, which builds on Dyson's reputation for innovation in both vacuums and hair care, was introduced last year as the brand's most advanced styler yet.
Powered by Dyson's fastest motor, the Hyperdymium 2, the Airwrap Co-anda 2x delivers twice the air pressure of previous models. This allows for faster drying and reduced heat damage, with claims of drying hair as quickly as a full-performance hair dryer. In testing, it outperformed the GHD Helios, which I previously named the best hair dryer.
Each attachment features an intelligent chip that communicates with the tool to adjust temperature and airflow settings for different hair types. While I didn't notice these adjustments in real time, my hair appeared smoother and silkier after styling. The anti-snag loop brush minimises tugging, and the Airsmooth attachment, which senses hair thickness and adjusts clamp pressure, effectively reduced kinks and flyaways.
The Co-anda 2x works with the MyDyson app, allowing users to personalise their styling profile via Bluetooth. The Curl ID function automates the wrap, heat, cool, and release cycle, simplifying the process compared to the original 2018 Airwrap. The tool also switches off automatically once the cycle is complete.
Despite numerous competitors like the Shark FlexStyle, the Airwrap Co-anda 2x has maintained its place on my dressing table. Its improved curling barrels offer 30 per cent more power than the predecessor, and the overall styling experience remains superior. For those seeking a multi-functional styler, this Dyson model continues to justify its hype.
