Apple 'Pro and Tell' Event: OLED Touch MacBook Pro Expected
Apple Event: OLED Touch MacBook Pro Expected

Apple has confirmed it will hold a major launch event, called 'Pro and tell', on Wednesday, October 28, with new Pro laptops expected to be the highlight, potentially featuring an OLED touch display for the first time on a MacBook.

The event follows a busy month for the company, which has already launched its first bendable phone, the iPhone Duo, revealed updates to its TV box and HomePod speakers, and unveiled a new smart home gadget called the HomeView.

OLED Touch Display Rumours

While Apple never reveals details ahead of its keynotes, it is expected that new Pro laptops will be the stars of the show. The most anticipated upgrade is an OLED touch display, which would allow users to tap on the screen like an iPad or iPhone, a feature most Windows PCs have had for a while.

Adding fuel to this rumour is Apple's invite, which appears to show the firm's logo being drawn with a finger. It is unclear why Apple feels now is the right time to add this technology, but it could help with daily tasks and speed up workflows.

Expected Upgrades and Other Announcements

Alongside the touch display, the new portable PCs are expected to come with impressive battery life stats and faster processors. Other changes could include a thinner and lighter design, plus the addition of the iPhone-style Dynamic Island, which pops up to display certain information.

In addition to the new Macs, Apple is thought to be planning updates to the desktop iMac and a refreshed iPad mini tablet. Full details will be announced on Wednesday, with the event starting at 8pm GMT.
