Hackers accessed the data of around 8.7 million customers of Manchester, Stansted and East Midlands airports, including phone numbers and postcodes. Manchester Airports Group (MAG), which operates all three airports, was made aware of the incident on Tuesday, but the data is believed to have been accessed a few days earlier.

The compromised information relates to car park, lounge and fast track bookings, as well as in-airport Wi-Fi sign-ups for all three airports. Hackers also gained access to people's email addresses, phone numbers, vehicle registrations and postcodes.
