Millions of AT&T customers have been given more time to claim compensation following a massive data breach that exposed their private information. The deadline for filing a claim has now been officially extended to 18 December 2025.
What Happened in the AT&T Data Breaches?
The telecoms giant suffered two significant security incidents. The first occurred in March 2024, compromising the personal data of as many as 73 million current and former account holders. Sensitive details, including Social Security numbers and dates of birth, were left exposed.
A second breach was then announced in July 2024, where hackers managed to download a substantial amount of AT&T customer data from a third-party cloud platform, compounding the security failure.
What the Settlement Means for You
In response, AT&T has agreed to establish a total settlement fund of $177 million to compensate those affected. The amount individual claimants receive will depend on the impact of the breaches on them, but those affected by both incidents could potentially be awarded up to $7,500.
It is crucial to note that the settlement is still pending final approval. A hearing in court is scheduled for January 2026 to give the deal the final green light.
Time is Running Out to File Your Claim
While the deadline has been pushed back, affected customers must act promptly. You have until 18 December 2025 to submit your claim for a share of the multimillion-dollar fund. This is a critical window of opportunity for anyone whose data was put at risk to seek financial redress for the security lapses.
