Salmon can occasionally turn out dry or stringy if you don't use the right ingredients – but coating it in one key item before cooking could help keep it moist and full of flavour. According to lifestyle reporter Angela Patrone, Worcestershire sauce is the secret ingredient that transforms salmon into a succulent dish.
Why Worcestershire Sauce Works
The condiment imparts a rich, smoky taste once the fish has been left soaking in it for one hour. While many people rely on olive oil as the primary marinating ingredient, Patrone discovered that Worcestershire sauce performed excellently. It created a protective layer around the exterior of salmon as it cooks, reducing moisture loss so its natural juices remained locked in. This condiment also enabled the paprika and garlic paste to adhere more effectively to the salmon.
Simple Marinade Recipe
Ingredients: Two salmon fillets, one tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce, one teaspoon of paprika, one teaspoon of garlic puree. Method: Mix the Worcestershire sauce, paprika and garlic puree in a dish before adding the salmon fillets. Use a spoon or clean hands to massage the marinade into the fish until it is uniformly covered. Allow the salmon to absorb the seasoning for an hour – the longer you permit it to marinate, the stronger the flavour will become.
Cooking Instructions
When ready to cook, heat your air fryer to 180°C for approximately five minutes before positioning the fish in the basket. The salmon required just seven minutes to cook. Simply monitor the salmon after roughly the seven-minute mark and assess how crispy it has become. Once it's done, you'll have brilliantly flavoured salmon fillets that taste remarkably succulent. Alternatively, you can prepare the salmon in the oven at 200°C, which should take around 12 to 14 minutes.
