Roadchef, one of the UK's leading motorway service operators, has expanded its electric vehicle charging network by adding six new bays at Hamilton Services on the M74 between Junctions 6 and 5 in Scotland.
High-powered charging capability
The new bays are served by three ultra-rapid chargers, offering 360kW charging capability with CCS connectors. This ensures compatibility with a wide range of electric vehicles and allows drivers to significantly reduce downtime during longer journeys.
Strategic location on busy corridor
Hamilton Services is situated on one of Scotland's busiest motorway corridors, serving drivers travelling between Glasgow, Edinburgh and northern England. The expansion addresses growing demand for reliable ultra-rapid charging, especially as the UK's network of rapid and ultra-rapid EV chargers has grown by 16 per cent over the past year.

In addition to the charging facilities, Hamilton Services is open 24/7 and offers a range of amenities, including food and drink outlets, dog walking areas, HGV showers, convenience retail, and rest facilities.
With this latest expansion, Roadchef says it continues to invest in future-ready infrastructure across the strategic road network, helping deliver more accessible and reliable charging facilities for EV drivers nationwide.
