Activision has announced the open beta schedule for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, with Nintendo Switch 2 players joining for the first time in the series' history. The beta is free and aims to let players test the game and report bugs before the full launch on Friday, October 23.
Modern Warfare 4 Open Beta dates and how to play
The open beta is split into two weekends. The first begins on Friday, August 21, immediately after the Call of Duty: NEXT showcase, and ends on Tuesday, August 25. This weekend is available only to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC players who have pre-ordered a digital copy or the Vault Edition.
The second weekend runs from Friday, August 28 to Tuesday, September 1 and is open to all gamers on all platforms, including Nintendo Switch 2, with no pre-order required. Switch 2 players will need a Nintendo Switch Online membership. Activision has not specified exact start times but confirmed the beta begins after the Call of Duty: NEXT event. Dates and platform availability may change, with a minimum two-day duration.
Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order update
Pre-orders for Modern Warfare 4 on Nintendo Switch 2 will go live on Wednesday, August 26, the day after the first beta weekend ends. This explains why Switch 2 players cannot access the first beta weekend, as pre-orders are not yet available.
Content in the Modern Warfare 4 beta
The multiplayer beta will feature several maps, modes, and playable Operators. Modes include 3v3 skirmishes, large tactical battles with armoured vehicles, Search and Destroy, and the new Kill Block, a 10v10 Gunfight mode. The Training Mobility Course will also be available.
