Instagram's New Profile Banner Lets You Share Current Read

Instagram has quietly introduced a new profile banner feature that lets users show the book they are currently reading, much to the delight of bookworms.

How the New Feature Works

Caitlin Bea shared that Instagram "released a fun new update where you can add a banner to your profile to show what book you’re currently reading." She explained that users go to their profile, click "edit profile," then "banners," press "fill in the blank," and select the "reading" option. After typing the book title (up to 20 characters), they save, and the profile displays "Reading:" followed by the title.

Bea noted that the feature sparks conversation, as clicking on the banner lets users "send them a message about their current read." She called the update "random" but said bookworms are eager to use it.

Reactions from Users

In the comments, users praised the update. One called it "random but so cute," while another said they "love the customisation." A user wrote: "Can't wait to try mine! Although I'll have to remember to change it when I'm done with the book lol." Another joked: "They’re trying to feed the BookTok girlies after Off Campus went wild."

A third user shared a "slay shortcut," explaining that "you can just press the add plus + sign on your bio area instead of going into edit profile."
