The highly anticipated return of I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! was marred by technical chaos on Sunday night as the official voting app collapsed, preventing thousands of viewers from participating in the first major decision of the new series.
App Meltdown Sparks Viewer Fury
As the 2025 season launched on 16 November, hosts Ant and Dec introduced ten new celebrities to the Australian jungle, where some contestants encountered snakes within moments of arrival. The lineup includes YouTuber Angry Ginge (Morgan Burtwistle), rapper Aitch, EastEnders actor Shona McGarty, and Jack Osbourne, son of the late rock legend Ozzy Osbourne.
However, the excitement quickly turned to frustration when viewers attempting to vote for the first Bushtucker trial encountered persistent errors. The ITV app, which required download for voting, failed during the critical voting window, with many users reporting issues with phone number verification.
Social Media Erupts Over Technical Failures
Social media platform X became flooded with complaints from disgruntled fans. "Is anyone having issues with the voting app? Why isn't it letting me vote??" wrote one viewer. Another complained: "Ugh can't vote on the I'm a Celeb app because it wants to verify my number but keeps throwing an error."
The frustration reached boiling point for some, with one user declaring "I'm a Celeb is a fix" after being unable to cast their vote. Another revealed they had "spent the whole time the I'm a Celeb vote was open trying to verify my bloody phone number." Some technical advice circulated among users, with one suggesting trying "a normal tab and not a private one" on browsers.
Controversial Changes and Trial Outcome
The technical problems weren't the only controversy of the night. The show's revamped title sequence, which replaced the traditional letters with stars, also drew criticism from loyal fans. "They've changed the I'm a Celeb opening titles??" wrote one confused viewer. "Where are the letters? Why are they in stars? Change it back!"
Despite the voting issues, the episode concluded with the announcement that comedian Ruby Wax and YouTuber Angry Ginge would face the first eating challenge of 2025. The pair are set to dine at 'The Divey', described as "a revolting restaurant where every morsel will be miserable."
I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! continues nightly at 9pm on ITV1, STV and ITVX.
