For many, the idea of regular exercise is a chore, but one fitness app claims to have cracked the code. Future Fitness connects users with a real-life personal trainer via an app, offering customised workouts and accountability—all for $199 (£158) a month. A user who previously struggled with motivation says it is the only exercise app that has ever worked for them.
The app pairs users with a coach after an initial FaceTime call to discuss goals, equipment and injuries. Workouts include video demonstrations and are tailored to home gear—even if you have none. However, a smartwatch is recommended to sync heart rate and activity data, allowing the coach to track progress and provide feedback.
Users receive daily messages from their coach, who checks in on workout completion and offers modifications. While an in-person trainer can adjust on the fly, the app requires users to communicate with their coach for alternatives. The reviewer notes that the clinical approach of Future’s videos is preferable to the high-energy style of other platforms.
After three years of intermittent use, the reviewer reports improved joint health, more energy and better mental wellbeing. Despite the cost, they consider it a worthwhile investment for those who struggle to stay consistent with exercise.
