Epic Games has launched a brand new competition giving Fortnite players the ultimate bragging rights and a massive $2,500 cash prize. The contest invites budding artists to design their very own Sprite, the adorable new companions added to the game in the most recent update. Here is everything you need to know about the latest competition, including how to enter, requirements, and the deadline.
Fortnite Concept Royale at a Glance
- Reward: $2,500 cash prize for each winning Sprite design.
- Deadline: 4:59 AM BST on July 2, 2026.
- Entry Requirements: Submissions must be posted via X, Instagram, TikTok, or Reddit with a strict ban on AI-generated art.
What Are Fortnite Sprites?
Sprites were added to Fortnite in Chapter 7, Season 3. They appear around the map as equippable items, taking up a single item slot and granting passive buffs depending on the type equipped. There are currently 11 base Sprites with various buffs, plus additional variant designs to find. Now, Epic Games is giving players the chance to design their own Sprites, with a cash prize for three lucky winners.
How to Enter the Fortnite Design-A-Sprite Competition
Entering your Sprite design is simple, but you need an active social media account:
- Upload your design to X, Instagram, or TikTok with the hashtag #DesignASprite in the caption.
- Alternatively, upload to the r/FortniteBR subreddit and mark the post with the ‘Design A Sprite’ flair.
Conditions to note: You can submit a maximum of two designs. Epic Games has a strict stance against using AI art for this competition, at least on Reddit. It is unclear if this applies to other platforms, but avoid AI to minimise risk of disqualification. Full terms are on the Epic Games website.
What Is the Prize?
Epic Games is awarding $2,500 to three winners. Additionally, the winning designs will be added to Fortnite for all players to find and use. It is not yet clear if each design will have unique passive buffs or adopt existing boosts.
When Is the Deadline?
Players have from June 17 until 4:59 AM BST on July 2, 2026, to submit designs. Submissions after the closing date will not be considered.
