EA Sports has revealed major changes coming to Ultimate Team in EA FC 27, including a new feature and overhauls to Squad Building Challenges (SBCs), Evolutions, and rewards. The game is set for release on Friday, September 25.
SBC Overhaul
The new SBC system streamlines the process: instead of placing players in specific positions, gamers select eligible items from their club and submit them toward a target score. Each item contributes based on overall rating and rarity. Some SBCs may only require a total score with a minimum rating per item.
Duplicate cards are no longer restricted, allowing multiple copies of the same item to be submitted. Partial progress lets players save their work and return later. Traditional SBC formats will still exist for challenge SBCs, but most player and upgrade releases will use the new format.
Evolutions Enhancements
Two upgrades aim to improve planning: Pathways offer branching upgrades instead of mandatory routes, letting players choose between different stat boosts. Evolution Chain Preview shows which Evolutions a player item is eligible for after completing the first one.
PlayStyle Lab returns with changes, so players no longer need to evolve PlayStyles from scratch, but some may require more time or effort to unlock.
FUT Gallery
The new FUT Gallery acts like a stickerbook, where players submit most player items for rewards. Gallery Sets are themed on Nations, Leagues, Clubs, and Campaigns, with custom sets for favorite players. Completed sets are graded based on card scores, and progressing increases the player's Gallery level, unlocking milestone rewards, cosmetics, Gallery Tokens, and rare Holographic items.
Holographic items are rarer versions of special items, with identical attributes but a premium appearance. They come in Regular and Pristine rarities and contribute higher scores to Gallery Sets.
