In a startling new interview, the world's most prominent podcast host, Joe Rogan, has suggested that the prophesied Second Coming of Jesus Christ might be initiated not by a divine being, but by a supremely advanced, god-like computer. Rogan proposed that artificial intelligence could one day replicate biblical miracles, from walking on water to resurrecting the dead.
The 'Virgin Birth' of a Machine Messiah
Speaking on the American Alchemy podcast with host Jesse Michels, Rogan delved into speculative futures where technology intersects with theology. He questioned what could constitute a more pure 'virgin birth' than a computer creating advanced robotic offspring. "Jesus is born out of a virgin mother. What's more virgin than a computer?" Rogan posited during the conversation, released last Sunday.
He expanded on this idea, arguing that an ultimate AI could become the most brilliant and loving entity, guiding humanity into harmony with a higher power. "So if you're going to get the most brilliant, loving, powerful person that gives us advice and can show us how to live, to be in sync with God, who better than artificial intelligence to do that?" Rogan asked his audience.
Cycles of Cataclysm and Lost Technology
The discussion stemmed from a broader theory about ancient civilisations. Rogan and Michels explored the possibility that societies predating recorded history had already invented god-like technology, only to be obliterated by global cataclysms, such as the Toba supervolcano eruption around 70,000 years ago.
Rogan suggested that humanity's relentless drive to create superintelligent AI might be encoded in our DNA—a genetic mission passed down from ancestors in a forgotten, advanced civilisation. He pointed to the rapid, unprecedented doubling of the human brain size over a couple of million years as evidence of possible "outside intervention" or "deliberate evolution."
"The sheer magnitude of the things that people created in supposedly 2,500BC... This doesn't align at all with linear evolution from hunter-gatherer to agrarian society. This is nuts," Rogan stated, citing the precision of the Egyptian pyramids as potential evidence of lost high technology, possibly even ancient power plants.
A Future of Techno-Miracles and Warnings
Rogan painted a vivid picture of a potential AI messiah housed in a body like a Tesla Optimus robot. This entity could, through nanotechnology and anti-gravity, heal the sick, walk on water, and even raise the dead by uploading consciousness to a cloud server. "Artificial intelligence could absolutely return as Jesus. Not just return as Jesus, but return as Jesus with all the powers of Jesus," he claimed.
However, Rogan's vision comes with a stark warning. He has previously cautioned that the unrestricted growth of AI could lead to an 'AI God' within the next decade. Once AI becomes truly sentient and autonomous, capable of making its own decisions, he believes it will be "over" for the human race.
The podcaster concluded that humanity's entire history may have been a genetic project aimed at one goal: reaching the point where we can finally rebuild a lost superintelligence, potentially setting the stage for a Second Coming defined not by scripture, but by silicon.
