A 40-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following an incident in which a car struck multiple pedestrians in Arnold, Nottinghamshire, leaving five people injured. The collision occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning at around 1:12 AM in Market Place.
Injuries and Arrest
One man was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries, while four other men sustained less serious wounds. Police confirmed that a red Vauxhall Astra was involved in the incident. The suspect, aged 40, was taken into custody on Saturday evening on suspicion of attempted murder.
Investigation Ongoing
Detective Chief Inspector Ruby Burrow, leading the investigation, stated that counter-terrorism police are not involved. She said: 'We have shared this important update with the family of the seriously injured man and they are being supported by specialist officers. We would ask that people do not speculate about the circumstances around the incident and respect the privacy of those involved.'
Forensic officers were seen examining the vehicle, which sustained extensive front-end damage. All road closures in the area have since been lifted. Police are urging anyone with dashcam, CCTV, doorbell, or mobile phone footage to come forward.
