Jeremy Kyle Slams Keir Starmer as 'Dreary Keiry' Over Social Media Ban
Kyle Calls Starmer 'Dreary Keiry' Over Social Media Ban

Jeremy Kyle launched a scathing attack on Keir Starmer during a TalkTV broadcast on Monday, branding the Prime Minister 'Prime Minister Dreary Keiry' as he announced a social media ban for children under 16.

Kyle interrupted the show to deliver the breaking news, but not before taking a swipe at Starmer. As a clip of the Prime Minister's address to the nation played, Kyle pretended to snore, mocking what he called a dull delivery.

'See, now the thing about this social media ban, it will cause different opinions,' Kyle said. 'I just look at the fact that you're allowed to vote, but you're not allowed to [be] late night scrolling all of a sudden.'

Starmer's Announcement

In a press conference at Downing Street, Starmer outlined the ban, which follows the Australian model. 'We've got a definition of social media, which is taken from the Australian model, so that means that there are certain features or services that are expected to be within the ban and some that won't,' he explained.

Starmer clarified that platforms like YouTube Kids, Lego Play, and Google Classroom would be exempt. 'They're obviously the other side of the line; they don't have the features that are concerned here, but the ban is absolutely clear for the services that come within the definition of social media.'

Enforcement Concerns

The Prime Minister acknowledged potential challenges in enforcement but defended the policy. 'I think we'll be better at enforcing it, actually, having learned from the Australian model, and having learned from our own experience with the Online Safety Act,' he said.

'I genuinely think we can enforce it, but I'm not prepared to say that because some children may try to get around it and some may get around it, that is not a good reason to take the act of banning. I just don't accept that.'

This is a breaking story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
