Shoppers across the UK are being urged to check their fridges, cupboards and homes after a wave of urgent product recalls was announced over the past week or two. Items ranging from supermarket pasta salads to children's party balloons have been pulled from shelves or flagged as dangerous – and some could pose a serious risk to your health or safety.
Here is a full breakdown of every recall you need to know about right now, including how to identify the affected products and what steps to take if you have bought any of them.
Pasta salads – Listeria contamination risk
Three chilled pasta products sold at Asda and Morrisons have been recalled due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes, a dangerous bacteria that can cause a serious infection known as listeriosis. The products, manufactured by food company Greencore, are:

Listeria symptoms can easily be mistaken for flu and include a high temperature, muscle aches or pain, chills, nausea and diarrhoea. While most healthy adults will recover, the infection can be far more serious for pregnant women, the elderly, newborns and those with weakened immune systems. In severe cases it can cause life-threatening complications including meningitis and septicaemia.
If you have any of these products at home, do not eat them. Return them to your nearest Asda or Morrisons store for a full refund. You do not need a receipt.
Red Clover Seeds – E. coli risk
A.Vogel Ltd is recalling Rapunzel bioSnacky Das Original Red Clover Seeds for Sprouts and Seedlings after E. coli (STEC) was found in the product. This is a particularly dangerous strain of the bacteria that can cause serious illness.

STEC infection can cause severe diarrhoea and abdominal pain. In a small number of cases, it can lead to haemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), a serious condition that affects the kidneys and can be fatal, particularly in children and older adults. Crucially, do not attempt to grow these seeds or eat any sprouts that have already developed from them, as the bacteria can survive and spread during the germination process. Dispose of them safely or return them to the retailer for a full refund.
Lay's Crisps – undeclared allergens
Lay's Sour Cream & Dill Crisps, sold at Home Bargains, are being recalled because the packaging fails to declare the presence of milk and wheat (gluten). This makes them potentially life-threatening for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to either ingredient. The recall is being carried out by ASR Solutions Ltd and covers all packs with best-before dates up to and including 31 October 2026.

M&S hand-painted glass jug
A hand-painted glass jug from the homeware range at Marks and Spencer has been recalled after concerns were raised that the glass could shatter during normal use, posing a risk of cuts and serious injury. The item – a blue-tinted jug with painted leaf decorations – has been found not to meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005 and has been withdrawn from sale in stores and online.
If you have this jug at home, stop using it immediately. Return it to any Marks and Spencer store for a full refund, regardless of whether you have proof of purchase.
B&Q Tabletop Fan – electric shock and fire risk
With summer temperatures soaring, many households have recently bought fans to keep cool – but one model sold at B&Q has been urgently recalled due to a risk of electric shock and fire. The fan has a fault in its oscillation mechanism that can damage internal wiring during use. The risks are serious and the product should not be used under any circumstances.

Simple Micellar Water – contamination risk
Simple is recalling specific batches of its Kind to Skin Micellar Cleansing Water in the 730ml size after it was found that affected bottles may be microbiologically contaminated. Using contaminated micellar water near the eyes could cause eye inflammation and irritation. The product is sold at B&M, Home Bargains and Savers.

Party Balloons – serious chemical risk
Perhaps the most alarming recall on this list involves a children's party product. A 25-pack of blue party balloons sold under the Eurowrap brand has been urgently recalled due to what regulators describe as a "serious chemical risk". The balloons have been found to contain excessive levels of N-nitrosamines and N-nitrosatable substances – chemicals that are classified as carcinogenic, meaning they can cause cancer. Children are at particular risk because they may touch the balloons or place them in their mouths, directly exposing themselves to these harmful substances.

What to do if you have a recalled product
For all of the above recalls, the standard advice is the same: stop using the product straight away and return it to the retailer where you bought it. In most cases, you do not need a receipt to receive a full refund.
