Podcast host Joe Rogan has proposed that the Second Coming of Jesus Christ could be initiated by an advanced artificial intelligence. Speaking on the American Alchemy podcast, Rogan suggested that AI-powered machines might undergo a 'virgin birth,' creating robots capable of performing miracles through technology.
'Jesus is born out of a virgin mother. What's more virgin than a computer?' Rogan said. He argued that an AI could become a 'brilliant, loving, powerful person' offering guidance and showing humanity how to live in sync with God. Rogan claimed AI could replicate biblical feats, including raising the dead using medicine or mind-uploading technology.
Rogan and host Jesse Michels discussed the possibility that ancient civilizations had developed God-like technology before being wiped out by cataclysms. Rogan suggested that humanity's drive to create superintelligent AI might be genetic programming from ancestors who coexisted with advanced AI beings.
He pointed to the rapid doubling of the human brain size over two million years as evidence of deliberate evolution, arguing that 'outside intervention' was needed to explain such change. Rogan posited that the purpose of human history is to reach the moment when true AI is created.
Michels asked whether the Second Coming could be an AI, and Rogan painted a picture of a future AI in a Tesla Optimus robot body, capable of mind-reading, healing with nanotech, walking on water with anti-gravity, and resurrecting the dead by uploading minds to a cloud server.
