Overview of Banned Items at Wimbledon 2026
The All England Lawn Tennis Club has announced a comprehensive list of 46 prohibited items for the 2026 Wimbledon Championships. The ban aims to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all spectators. Key items include selfie sticks, camping chairs, bicycles, and drones. Visitors are strictly limited to one bag per person, with dimensions not exceeding 40cm x 30cm x 30cm.
Bag and Container Restrictions
Backpacks, large shopping bags, and multiple bags are not allowed. Hard-sided containers, rigid cool boxes, and traditional picnic hampers are prohibited; only soft-sided cooler bags are permitted. Vacuum flasks or dual-skin liquid containers over 500ml are also banned.
Alcohol Limits
While spectators may bring their own alcohol, it is heavily restricted. Banned items include spirits and fortified wines. The personal limit is strictly one bottle of wine or champagne (750ml) OR two cans of beer or premixed aperitifs (up to 500ml each) per person. Corked bottles, such as champagne, must be opened before entering court seating areas.
Media and Technology Equipment
Selfie sticks, monopods, tripods, gimbals, and similar attachments are banned. Professional photographic equipment with lenses extending beyond 300mm requires prior authorisation. Drones and any remote-controlled aerial devices are strictly prohibited.
Comfort and Seating Items
Foldable picnic chairs, camping chairs, tents, gazebos, and parasols cannot be brought into the grounds, with limited exceptions for the overnight queue before entering. Oversized or golf umbrellas are also banned.
Signs, Noise, and Marketing
Signs larger than 60cm x 60cm, flagpoles, and banner poles are not allowed. Clothing or objects with overt commercial identification or political statements for promotional campaigns are prohibited. Rattles, klaxons, air horns, or any items that could cause unreasonable noise and disrupt play are banned.
General Safety Prohibitions
Weapons, sharp objects (including large corkscrews or knives), personal protection sprays, fireworks, flares, laser pointers, and spray paint are forbidden. Wheeled footwear, skateboards, scooters, and bicycles are not allowed, except authorised mobility aids. Animals are prohibited, except certified assistance dogs.
