An Instagram post has sent Sam Fender fans into a frenzy after it 'leaked' news of outdoor gigs for 2027. The post appeared on Tuesday, just days after the North Shields singer broke a 73-year-old UK chart record.
Record-breaking success
Sam Fender and Olivia Dean recently achieved the UK's longest-ever number 1 single, surpassing Frankie Laine's 'I Believe' from 1952. Their track 'Rein Me In', originally a solo song from his third album, reached the top spot over a year after its release. It now needs one more month at number 1 to beat Mariah Carey's 22-week world record for 'All I Want for Christmas'.
While Sam was performing at Lollapalooza in Chicago over the weekend, fans celebrated the chart milestone at home.
Outdoor gig hints
The Instagram account run by Gavin Davis, known for accurately leaking major events like Radio 1's Big Weekend, posted about Sam's 2027 shows. Davis previously correctly predicted headliners for this year's Sunderland event, including Fatboy Slim, Zara Larsson, and Olivia Dean, as well as tours by The Script and The Strokes.
Fans reacted quickly to the post, with comments like 'Sam Fender summer is coming back' and 'oh this better be real !!!!'. One fan suggested more St James' Park shows, writing: 'Manifesting for some more SJPs show but it seems only fair that he plays different cities and towns that he hasn’t played in a long time or never been before.'
Sam previously sold out two nights at St James' Park in June 2023 and three nights last summer, with over 100,000 fans attending the weekend shows.
