The Express has ranked all 20 Premier League stadiums for the 2026/27 season, with Bournemouth's Vitality Stadium coming in last and Manchester United placed 14th, while Chelsea feature in the bottom five.
Criteria and challenges
Ranking every Premier League stadium is an exceptionally tough job, with many factors to consider. Atmosphere, history, size, location, facilities, views from the seats, proximity to the pitch, concourses, food and drink options, and accessibility all play a part. Age also matters, as older grounds offer history but may need major work, while newer stadiums often have better facilities but lack the same heritage.
The Express took into account ageing infrastructure, amenities, views, atmosphere, history and the general Premier League feel when compiling the list.
Bottom three: Bournemouth, Hull, Ipswich
At 20th is the Vitality Stadium, home to Bournemouth. It holds around 11,300 supporters, making it the smallest Premier League ground. The four stands are close to the touchlines, and it has under-soil heating, digital entry systems and necessary facilities, but limited concourse space and size count against it.
In 19th is Hull City's MKM Stadium, which opened in 2002 and holds about 25,500. It is a modern bowl with a single tier and an upper tier on the West Stand, offering clear views and wide concourses, but it lacks history and atmosphere compared with others.
Portman Road, home to Ipswich Town, is 18th. It has hosted football since 1884 and holds around 30,300. It features stands named after Sir Bobby Robson and Sir Alf Ramsey, and has a traditional feel, but some older sections have narrow concourses, low ceilings and tight seating.
Crystal Palace and mid-table
Crystal Palace's Selhurst Park is 17th. It has been their home since 1924 and holds about 25,500. The Holmesdale Road Stand creates a strong atmosphere and seating is close to the pitch, but the stadium is over 100 years old, with narrow concourses, dated facilities and pillars blocking some views.
