Chances scarce in low-key friendly
The match, played in front of 42,204 spectators, was a quiet affair with few clear opportunities. Wrexham's Hollywood co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney were in attendance. Liverpool's preparations were disrupted when their flight from Chicago was cancelled on Tuesday night due to poor weather, delaying their arrival until midday on game day.
Youthful lineup for Liverpool
Iraola fielded an experimental side, with six starters having no Premier League experience. Teenager Joshua Abe, a highly-rated right winger who recently committed to Liverpool, started and almost scored early but was denied by former Liverpool goalkeeper Danny Ward. Dominik Szoboszlai and Lewis Koumas went close, but the game lacked intensity.
Wrexham, further along in pre-season, had chances through Sam Smith and Callum Doyle, but Giorgi Mamardashvili saved comfortably.
