Newsboy's Nap, Thornaby Annie, is tipped to win the finale at Beverley on Tuesday after a disappointing run last time out. The three-year-old filly, trained by Adrian Nicholls, finished seventh at Nottingham, 10 lengths behind Empirical, but had previously shown consistent form with two second-place finishes at Doncaster and Redcar before a neck victory over Inferno at Wetherby. The fourth-placed horse from that race, Celtic Chariot, boosted the form by winning next time out at Doncaster.
Thornaby Annie's Chances at Beverley
Thornaby Annie runs in the Racing Again On Monday Evening Handicap at 4.58 over seven furlongs. Newsboy believes the distance will suit and expects her to beat the likely favourite and top weight The Sweet Escape, who has risen 3lb for his latest success.
Luan Selected at Wolverhampton
At Wolverhampton, Luan (7.55) is Newsboy's next best pick. The James Ferguson-trained four-year-old won over 1m2f at Newcastle, beating The Ubermensch by a length and a quarter. The runner-up later won at Yarmouth. Tuesday's race is over two furlongs longer, which should suit Luan even more.
