A new play area featuring a zip-line, climbing frames and an "Indiana Jones style pole vault" has been unveiled for Seeds Lane Park in Fazakerley. Labour Councillor for Fazakerley North, Declan Henry, said improving parks was a "top priority" for his election and that he is proud of the progress made.
Accessible equipment for all children
The refurbished play area will include accessible swing seats, a level-access roundabout and communication boards for non-verbal children "because playing and having fun is for all children". The area will also receive a zip-line, a wide range of climbing frames, and an Indiana Jones style pole vault.
Specific requests incorporated
Specific requests have been incorporated, including a refreshed basketball area, a shelter for older kids to hang out when the weather turns and a parent-and-child shared swing seat.
Mr Henry said: "Improving this park for our young people was a top priority for me when I was elected, I'm proud to be part of our Liverpool Labour council that has committed to renovating play parks all across the city."
"No matter what happens at the next elections in May 2027, I'll keep being proud of achieving this for our community for a very long time."
New play area for Rice Lane Recreation Ground
A new play area worth around £125,000 has also been announced for Rice Lane Recreation Ground in Walton. The park saw five play area suppliers submit designs for the new play equipment. The play area includes more than 37 features such as slides, climbing frames and swings with space for 42 users. One of the swings boasts an open design and generous seating space allowing children of every ability level to enjoy it over a typical regular single-user swing seat.
The equipment list includes an Aktivezone circuit climber, open half pod shelter, a modular 2.4m high swing with turtle shell nest seat and two large flat seats.
Walton councillor praises investment
Walton's Labour councillor Sam East praised efforts to secure investment and confirmed he continues to look at options to further secure the area. He said: "We are very grateful to the brilliant Infrastructure Project Manager in the Parks team who has helped us deliver this, as well as the new equipment in Walton Hall Park and of course Kyle's area in the Rose Garden, in the last few years. I hope residents agree the designs justify this effort."
An installation date will be determined soon but "there is no reason to expect this to take very long", according to Mr East.
