Conor McGregor has made a final promise to put on a show as he and Max Holloway faced off for the last time before their rematch at UFC 329. The Irishman will compete for the first time in five years on Saturday night, taking on Holloway in a rematch of their 2013 clash, where McGregor outpointed his rival despite tearing ligaments in his knee during the bout.
McGregor's Return After Five-Year Hiatus
McGregor has not fought since he broke his leg in the first round of his trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier in 2021. Since then, he has endured a string of controversies. However, after weighing in on Friday, he promised an even better performance than their first encounter. "It's great to be back," McGregor said. "Thank you to all the fans in attendance. I hope you're ready for a blockbuster tomorrow night. The Mac is bringing it."
Earlier this week, McGregor vowed to bring back the glory days that saw him win featherweight and lightweight world titles. "I can destroy Max inside 10 seconds," he claimed. "I have knockouts inside three seconds on my fighting record. I have Hall of Fame fighters, multiple Hall of Fame UFC fighters defeated and destroyed both together and under a minute, and I can add Max to that. However, don't get it twisted. If we go into deep waters, Max is going to be in a lot of trouble, he will be badly concussed."
Holloway's Welterweight Debut
Holloway, meanwhile, will be making his welterweight debut after being dominated by Charles Oliveira earlier this year at lightweight. He too promised to deliver a performance to remember. "I'm too ferocious, I'm too relentless," Holloway said. "If this guy is a missile, I'm a f***ing nuke; I'll see you tomorrow night."
