Just months after being watched by millions on ITV's Britain's Got Talent, North East dance icon MC Tazo will be the star guest at a World Cup fan zone in Newcastle for England v Norway on Saturday, July 11.
From BGT to the Fan Zone
MC Tazo, real name Kevin Hogg, has been a staple of the region's raving scene for decades, from the New Monkey era to events like Ministry of Bounce, Clubland and Ikon Live. His appearance on Britain's Got Talent surprised fans, as he kept his plans secret from his two sons before heading to the auditions in Blackpool.
After an intervention from Geordie hosts Ant and Dec helped him secure enough votes to reach the live semi-finals, Tazo narrowly missed out on a spot in the knockout stages. However, he remains in high demand and will now headline NX in Newcastle city centre, which opens its doors as a fan zone for the first time this World Cup.
Quarter-Final Showdown
NX, no stranger to hosting fan zones for England and Newcastle supporters, is gearing up for a massive night on Saturday for the quarter-final clash between England and Norway. The match follows England's thrilling win against Mexico and Norway's victory over Brazil.
The venue will host one of the biggest indoor football screenings in Newcastle, featuring World Cup DJs, massive England flag displays, crowd interaction, live entertainment, special guests, and a huge pre-match build-up before Thomas Tuchel's side takes to the field. Excited to be part of the event, MC Tazo, who recorded a song for England ahead of the 2022 World Cup, said: "I'm absolutely buzzing to be part of this. England are into the quarter-finals, the whole country's right behind them and there's no better place to watch it in the North East than surrounded by hundreds of fans at NX.
