Kylian Mbappe has not ruled out a future move to Major League Soccer, revealing that David Beckham has been actively trying to lure the French superstar to America. The 27-year-old Real Madrid forward, who has enjoyed a stellar career with Monaco, Paris Saint-Germain, and now the Spanish giants, admitted that Beckham, co-owner of Inter Miami, has spoken to him multiple times about a potential transfer.
Mbappe Open to MLS Move
Asked about a move to MLS, Mbappe said: 'We'll see. David Beckham has mentioned it to me many times. American culture is different, there are no limits to ambition, and I like that.' The Frenchman, who scored twice in France's World Cup opener against Senegal to take his international tally to 58 goals in 99 caps, indicated that a move to the United States could happen at some stage of his career, though not immediately while he remains one of the best players on the planet.
Beckham has already brought Lionel Messi to Inter Miami, and Mbappe would be another global superstar joining the MLS franchise. Mbappe also joked about his longevity, saying: 'I won't be here at 40, they'll have kicked me out before then. I don't make long-term plans, I want to enjoy this World Cup.'
Messi and Ronaldo Still Top
When asked who is the best forward on the planet, Mbappe paid respect to Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, stating: 'Messi is the best player along with Cristiano, that's clear. I'm trying to help my team win another World Cup. The rest is just debate for journalists.' Messi recently moved to become joint record scorer in World Cups with 16 goals after his hat-trick against Algeria, level with Germany's Miroslav Klose. Mbappe is just two goals behind that record but said: 'I'm going to keep scoring to help my country go as far as possible. And, of course, by scoring, I'll get closer to that record.'
France's World Cup Campaign
France are back in action on Monday against Iraq as they look to wrap up qualification to the knockout stages at the earliest point possible. Mbappe remains focused on the tournament, with his team aiming to defend their World Cup title.
