Liverpool have confirmed the appointment of four new coaching members as Andoni Iraola's backroom staff starts to take shape. Tommy Elphick and Shaun Cooper have followed Iraola from Bournemouth as first-team coaches for the Reds after an agreement was reached between the clubs over their release.
Key appointments from Bournemouth
The Spaniard will also once again link up with Pablo de la Torre as an assistant coach while Tom Webber has been appointed as first-team tactical analyst. The quartet all worked with Iraola during his three years in charge at Bournemouth, which ended with the Cherries securing European qualification for the first time in their history by finishing sixth in the Premier League.
Elphick and Cooper's backgrounds
Elphick, who is a Liverpool fan, made almost 400 career appearances as a centre-back for a number of clubs including Brighton, Bournemouth and Aston Villa, before moving into coaching at Bournemouth in 2021 and joining the first-team staff under then boss Gary O'Neil during the 2022/23 season. Cooper, also a defender, spent the majority of his playing career with the Cherries where he was captain and returned to Bournemouth in 2018 where he worked his way up the coaching ranks until following Elphick into the first-team set-up.
Other staff additions
De La Torre had also previously worked with Iraola at AEK Larnaca in Cyprus and Spanish side Rayo Vallecano, while Webber gained a decade of performance analysis experience at Bournemouth having also had spells at Birmingham City and Leicester City.
