Striker Kasper Hogh looks set to take a step towards joining Celtic when Daizen Maeda officially leaves the club.
Interest revived
The Scottish champions have revived their interest from January, that saw the Hoops enter the chase for the striker with the clock ticking down on the window. At that stage, Celtic had already snapped up Tomas Cvancara from Borussia Monchengladbach on a loan deal - and the Norwegian side raised their asking price after progress in the Champions League.
But the Glasgow giants have returned this summer - and speculation ramped up over an imminent deal after Bodo's top scorer was surprisingly benched for the league clash with HamKam, with Andreas Helmersen given the nod up front.
Player keen on move
Boss Kjetil Knutsen insisted the absence was due to his team deciding to rest the frontman, with reports in Norway subsequently suggesting the Denmark international is keen on a switch to Glasgow's East End. Danish outlet Campo now claim that Celtic are "trying to finalise" a move for the 25-year-old with the player and club both holding talks with the Scottish champions.
It is claimed that a switch could be close with the new Premiership campaign just days away - but will hinge on Maeda's move to Ipswich Town. Record Sport revealed the Glasgow giants will receive a £10million payday for the Japan international when he joins the Premier League new boys after the striker approved a dream move to the English top flight - with a deal expected to be formally announced this weekend.
Attacking reinforcements needed
Boss Martin O'Neill is in dire need of attacking reinforcements with Maeda's departure now imminent. Forward Camilo Duran is the only new Celtic addition so far this summer, with the likes of loanees Junior Adamu and Tomas Cvancara returning to their parent clubs at the end of last season. Kelechi Iheanacho also opted to join Bursaspor over penning a Parkhead contract extension.
Callum Osmand has competed with Duran to lead the line so far in pre-season, while Johnny Kenny has returned from his loan at Bolton. Shin Yamada has already gone on loan to OH Leuven.
