Harry Wilson to Join Leeds United After Rejecting Fulham Contract
Harry Wilson Agrees Leeds Move After Rejecting Fulham

Leeds United have reached an agreement to sign Harry Wilson, ending Fulham's hopes of keeping the Wales winger at Craven Cottage. Standard Sport understands Wilson will sign a long-term deal at Elland Road after rejecting a proposal to remain in west London.

Wilson's Decision

The 29-year-old was voted Fulham's player of the season earlier this month and had been offered an extension to his expiring contract. However, he has decided to join Leeds when that deal expires on June 30 and will undergo a medical. Wilson initially came close to joining Leeds on Deadline Day last summer, before Fulham pulled out of negotiations at the 11th hour after failing to secure a move for then-Chelsea winger Tyrique George.

Stellar Season at Fulham

Wilson went on to enjoy a brilliant campaign at Craven Cottage, scoring 11 goals and providing eight assists across all competitions. He was the subject of interest from several clubs, including Aston Villa and Everton. It is unclear whether the departure of manager Marco Silva, who brought Wilson to the club in a £12 million transfer in 2021, influenced the winger's decision to leave.

Impact of Silva's Exit

Standard Sport understands that the uncertainty around who will replace Silva is affecting players' futures heading into next season. Former Real Madrid head coach Alvaro Arbeloa is reportedly close to joining Fulham, but sources insist there are still two contenders in the running to take over from Silva, who has moved to Benfica to replace Jose Mourinho after the latter's sensational return to the Bernabeu.

Wilson enjoyed his most productive season in a Fulham shirt last term, with Silva stating in January that the club had to do all they could to tie him down to a new contract. The winger's departure represents a significant loss for Fulham as they prepare for life under a new manager.
