A giant television screen is set to arrive in Newcastle to create what organisers describe as the city's 'biggest ever' fan zone for England's World Cup semi-final against Argentina. The 9-metre wide screen will be installed in Times Square, which was one of the busiest locations in the city centre during England's quarter-final victory over Norway.
Match details and fan zone expansion
England face Argentina in Atlanta on July 15, following a dramatic quarter-final where Jude Bellingham scored an equaliser before half-time and a winner in extra time to secure a 3-2 victory over Norway. Argentina advanced after a 3-1 win against Switzerland in their quarter-final. The fan zone at Times Square will be expanded in size and will feature additional bars to accommodate the expected large crowd.
Tickets and atmosphere
Tickets for the event went on sale on Sunday, with general admission priced from £16 and front-of-screen table seats starting at £35.50 per person. Doors open at 5pm, with England anthems playing before kick-off and full match commentary during the game. The fan zone previously drew large crowds for England's match against Mexico on July 6.
