Emmerdale's Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) has become a killer after shoving Dr Caitlin Todd (Caroline Harker), causing her to hit her head and die. The fallout, according to producer Laura Shaw, will be seismic for Sarah and Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins), who witnessed the death.
Deadly confrontation
Sarah walked in on the final showdown between Todd and Charity, overhearing Todd's vile taunts about Charity's past rapes. Enraged, Sarah shoved Todd, who fell and struck her head on a table, dying instantly. Now Sarah and Charity share a dark secret.
Producer's warning
'They are locked in a secret and that's going to be long-lasting and going forward, that's going to affect their relationship,' Shaw said. She also hinted at the baby secret: 'Obviously, there's still the baby secret to come out at some point.'
The baby secret involves Charity's surrogate pregnancy, which was actually the result of a one-night stand with Ross Barton (Michael Parr), not IVF with Sarah and Jacob. Sarah still believes she is raising her own child, but the truth will eventually emerge.
Future drama
'It's got to happen at some point, and how that will affect the story with regards to the murder and Todd? You'll have to wait and see,' Shaw told The Mirror. Fans may have to wait for the inevitable Dingle drama, but it's coming.
