Moody Meadows, a campsite near Aberaeron in Ceredigion, has grown into a family-friendly destination offering Sunday carvery dinners, a dog-friendly bistro, a play barn, lake walks, trampolines and a farm shop. The site, located just up the road from the seaside town, includes luxury lodges and the Moo-Tel accommodation.
The Moody Cow Bistro and Sunday Carvery
The Moody Cow Bistro has a laid-back feel with rustic decor, wooden and zinc cladding, sparkly lights, tartan cushions and comfy seating, described as more like a farmhouse front room than a restaurant. It is dog-friendly in the bar area.
A Sunday carvery dinner was tried, with beef described as pink in the middle and soft enough to cut with a spoon, huge Yorkshire puddings and cauli cheese with a crisp topping. The carvery costs £18.50 for three meats. A kids carvery is also available, along with a normal kids menu featuring sausage and chips, pasta and fish fingers. Outside Sundays, the bistro offers burger nights, afternoon tea, breakfasts and lunch and dinner menus.
Lake Walks and the Moody Calf Play Barn
Outside the bistro, a lake offers a place to walk after eating. A glass balcony above the bistro provides lake views for after-dinner coffee and cake.
The Moody Calf Play Barn is described as one of the best soft plays visited, with colourful farm-themed fun, multi-coloured life-size cows, walls adorned with colourful houses of Aberaeron and quirky sofas and rugs. For older children, there is an outdoor park and a trampoline park called the 'Crazy Cow'.
Farm Shop and Overall Experience
The farm shop is packed with local produce, homemade candles and soaps, and a deli counter with fresh pastries and cakes. The visit ended with treats picked up for the drive home, and the toddler falling asleep in the car seat.
The day was described as a perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon, with the toddler, the adults and the dog all happy.
