Emmerdale and Coronation Street will be off air on ITVX and ITV tonight (August 12) as part of another scheduling reshuffle due to football coverage.
The most recent alterations to ITV's programming follow the disruption soap enthusiasts faced during June and July, when their regular weeknight line-up of Emmerdale at 8pm, followed by Coronation Street at 8:30pm, was affected by the FIFA World Cup.
Live Football Takes Precedence
Both long-running soaps are missing once more from Wednesday's ITV listings to accommodate live football as Manchester United face Leeds United in a pre-season friendly.
The encounter between the two Premier League sides will take place at Dublin's Croke Park, with broadcast coverage on ITV from 7pm to 10pm.
This marks the first occasion a club football match has been staged at Ireland's biggest stadium and the first football fixture at the ground since November 2009, reports the Daily Star.
Return to Regular Slots
The game forms part of both teams' build-up to the 2026/2027 campaign, with the new Premier League season approaching later this month.
Soap enthusiasts won't face a lengthy wait to catch up on events in the Dales and Weatherfield, as both Emmerdale and Coronation Street will be back on ITV and ITVX on Thursday, 13 August, in their customary time slots.
Coronation Street Fallout
On Corrie, the fallout from Theo Silverton's (James Cartwright) death continues as Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien) confronts the repercussions of the investigation after killing the violent scaffolder.
Sarah remains in prison, while Gary Windass (Mikey North) appears ready to confess in recent episodes, leaving their freedom hanging in the balance. Will Sarah be released from prison and reunite with Kit Green (Jacob Roberts)?
Emmerdale Aftermath
Over in the Dales, viewers will see the continuing aftermath of Dr. Caitlin Todd's (Caroline Harker) death, as Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) remains at the police station while investigations into the "murder" continue.
Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) has been released following her arrest, though she is the one who pushed Todd to her death.
Meanwhile, Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) is still recovering in hospital following a near-fatal attack by Kev Townsend (Chris Coghill).
