Cardiff City have confirmed they will take on Serie A giants Roma in a pre-season friendly this summer. The Italian side, who have secured a return to the Champions League, will face the Bluebirds on August 1 at Cardiff City Stadium, with kick-off at 3pm.
Roma's South Wales Tour
Roma are also expected to face League Two side Newport County, with details of that match still to be confirmed. Both games follow a training camp in south Wales, where Gian Piero Gasperini's men will be based at the WRU's Centre of Excellence.
Cardiff City's Pre-Season Schedule
Cardiff have several other friendlies planned. Danish side Midtjylland visit Cardiff City Stadium on July 11. The Bluebirds then travel to Cork for a week-long training camp, facing Cork City on July 14. They later travel to Forest Green on July 25, before beginning their domestic campaign in the Carabao Cup on the weekend of August 8.
Newport County's Pre-Season and Takeover
Newport County, who narrowly avoided relegation on the final day of the 2025-26 season, start their pre-season with a trip to Bristol Manor Farm on July 4, followed by matches against Newport City (July 8), Gloucester City (July 11), and Reading (July 28). The club is reportedly subject to a takeover bid by Welsh businessman Nick Beddis, founder of AGS Capital. The prospective new ownership is working on a possible pre-season trip to Miami in July, pending the purchase being rubber-stamped.
