Newcastle United will learn their Carabao Cup second-round opponents on Monday, August 10, with the draw taking place at approximately 7.20pm. The draw will be broadcast live on Sky Sports, hosted by David Prutton, with the draw conducted by Jobi McAnuff and Jamie Mackie.
Magpies enter at second-round stage
Newcastle enter the competition in the second round after failing to qualify for Europe, which would have earned them a third-round entry. Their first competitive fixture under Matthias Jaissle will be scheduled in the first week of the season, between the opening Premier League match against Liverpool on August 23 and the game at Tottenham on August 29.
Regionalised draw
The draw is split into Northern and Southern sections, meaning Newcastle will face a team from the northern half of the country. The full list of northern teams will only be confirmed after the majority of first-round games are completed.
Fixture dates
The second-round ties will be played in the week commencing Monday, August 24, with matches likely to take place on Tuesday, August 25 and Wednesday, August 26.
Promising omen
Newcastle last entered the competition at this stage in 2025, when they went on to win the trophy, beating Nottingham Forest on penalties in their first game.
