Leandro Trossard to Besiktas
Announced just before England's semi-final defeat by Argentina, Trossard's £15.3m move to Istanbul was easy to miss. At 31, after three and a half seasons at Arsenal, his time there has come to a natural conclusion. He made 174 appearances and scored 36 goals, many from the bench in clutch moments, playing a crucial role in the club's first league title in 22 years. He will be remembered as a cult hero of the Mikel Arteta era.
Nathaniel Brown to Bayern Munich
Brown's energetic displays at left-back for Germany earned him a move to Bayern Munich. Born in Amberg, Bavaria, and raised in Nürnberg's academy, he spent two years at Eintracht Frankfurt and earned eight Germany caps. With Raphaël Guerreiro leaving and Alphonso Davies injured, Vincent Kompany will benefit from Brown's natural left-back abilities.
Denzel Dumfries to Real Madrid
The Netherlands right-back, 30, scored twice at Euro 2020, earning a move from PSV to Inter, and helped the Netherlands past the USA in the 2022 World Cup last 16 with a goal and two assists. In North America, he provided two assists as the Netherlands reached the last 32. After their exit to Morocco, Dumfries signed a four-year deal at Real Madrid after his release clause at Inter was triggered, joining Bernardo Silva and Ibrahima Konaté as freebie arrivals.
Emersonn to Ipswich
Announced before the World Cup quarter-finals, the 22-year-old Brazilian striker arrived in Toulouse only last summer but did enough in Ligue 1 to convince Ipswich to pay £24m. Standing 6ft 3in, he combines a target-man frame with mobility. He scored six goals in 27 league appearances. Manager Gary O'Neil said: "He is a young striker with real ability and potential who has had plenty of interest this summer."
Harry Winks to Cagliari
Now 30, Winks joins Demi Akarakiri at Cagliari, whose only previous English player left in 1969. Injuries stalled his Spurs career and struggles continued at Leicester despite a brief revival under Enzo Maresca. He spent a year on loan at Sampdoria in 2022-23, ending in relegation. In Sardinia, he may seek stability.
Mathys Detourbet to Manchester City
Detourbet's £21.6m transfer to City was overshadowed by Enzo Maresca's unveiling and Elliot Anderson's £116m arrival. The 19-year-old winger joined from Troyes, part of the City Football Group, having played for them since age eight. He scored three goals and made six assists in 33 Ligue 2 appearances, helping Troyes win promotion as champions. He was loaned to Monaco for the coming campaign.
Illan Meslier to Arsenal
Meslier joined Arsenal on a free transfer. He faces a steep challenge to displace David Raya as No 1 but could dislodge Kepa Arrizabalaga. The former Leeds goalkeeper has 107 Premier League appearances but fell behind Karl Darlow and Lucas Perri at Leeds last term. He must win over sceptics and make the No 2 role his own if Arrizabalaga leaves.
Gonçalo Ramos to Milan
Milan broke their club-record transfer fee to pay £60.2m for Ramos at the end of June. He scored 45 goals in 131 appearances for PSG, helping them to three league titles and two Champions League triumphs. He made late substitute appearances in PSG's two victorious Champions League finals, scoring the opener in the shootout against Arsenal. As Ruben Amorim's first signing at Milan, he will have top billing.
Robert Lewandowski to Chicago Fire
Poland did not qualify for the World Cup, but Lewandowski made the trip to the US. He ended a four-year spell at Barcelona that yielded three La Liga titles and 120 goals. The 37-year-old scored 19 times last season and remains in remarkable shape. Former USA coach Gregg Berhalter is his new boss in Chicago.
Jakub Kaminski to Köln … and Benfica
Kaminski made two under-the-radar moves this summer. After breaking through at Lech Poznan, he moved to Wolfsburg in 2022 but fell from favour, spending last season on loan at Köln. He played every league game for the Bundesliga returnees. Köln paid €5.5m to sign him permanently in May, but Benfica paid his €20m release clause two months later. Köln invested a portion of the profit on Manchester City youngster Reigan Heskey.
