Transfer Domino Effect Could Lead to Curtis Jones Exit

The future of Curtis Jones at Liverpool remains uncertain, with Serie A giants Inter Milan reportedly keen on bringing the Reds midfielder to the San Siro this summer. The completion of another transfer could pave the way for the Italian champions to make a move.

Inter Milan's Interest in Jones

Inter first inquired about Jones, 25, during the January transfer window, but no deal materialized. Had the Liverpool academy graduate been allowed to move to Italy, current Inter midfielder David Frattesi would have joined Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.

According to TuttoSport, Frattesi will be allowed to leave Inter this summer, with a revived move to the City Ground reportedly back on the table. The funds from his sale could then be used for a fresh bid for Jones, as Inter seeks a middle ground on the player's valuation with Liverpool.

Valuation Discrepancies

The report claims Inter had a €20 million (£17.3m) offer rejected by Liverpool, who value Jones at €30 million (£25.9m). The midfielder is entering the final year of his contract. TuttoSport suggests that if a permanent transfer for Frattesi is agreed, Inter would submit an improved €25 million (£21.6m) offer for Jones, including a 'good' resale percentage fee.

However, those figures differ from an earlier Echo report, which stated Liverpool values Jones at around £35 million (€40.5m).

Transfer Domino Effect

Inter defender Denzel Dumfries, a reported Liverpool target under Arne Slot, is set to join Real Madrid, though his move may not be completed until after the World Cup. This is not a problem for Frattesi, as Italy failed to qualify for the tournament in Canada, USA, and Mexico.

Should the transfer domino effect unfold as expected, Liverpool will receive an improved offer for Jones and must decide on his future. The England international, not included in Thomas Tuchel's World Cup squad, had previously expressed a desire to captain his boyhood club. But with no new contract agreed, the possibility of his departure remains.

Jones has made 228 appearances for Liverpool, scoring 22 goals. Last season, he was deployed as a right-back by Arne Slot due to the departures of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Conor Bradley's long-term injury.
