Fulham manager Marco Silva has publicly admitted he cannot guarantee the future of in-form winger Harry Wilson, despite hailing the player as being in the best form of his career.
Wilson Inspires FA Cup Comeback
The uncertainty surrounds the 28-year-old Wales international, whose current deal at Craven Cottage expires at the end of the season. The issue came to the fore after Wilson came off the bench to inspire a 3-1 FA Cup third-round comeback victory against Middlesbrough on Saturday 10 January 2026.
Fulham found themselves trailing at half-time following a goal from Middlesbrough's Hayden Hackney. However, the introduction of Wilson changed the game. He scored a fine equaliser shortly after entering the fray and was instrumental in Emile Smith Rowe's 77th-minute strike, before Kevin added a third in stoppage time to seal the win.
'Best Football of His Career'
Wilson's impact against Boro continued a remarkable personal run. He has now scored in his last three appearances, having also found the net in Fulham's 2-2 draw with Liverpool and 2-1 win over Chelsea in the Premier League.
When pressed on the player's future, Silva was candid. "I don't know if I am going to have him in one week, 15 days, three months or at the end of the season, with good or bad news. I cannot guarantee anything," the Portuguese coach stated.
He was effusive in his praise, however, adding: "What I do know, is that he is playing the best football of his career. He is in the best moment of his career and there is no doubt about it. Fulham fans should enjoy the brilliant moment of him."
Contract Talks Rest With The Board
Silva confirmed that the matter is now in the hands of the club's hierarchy and the player's representatives. "He is in a happy place, and so is his family, and we will try to do our best to keep him," Silva said, indicating a desire to retain the Welsh star.
The manager also reflected on the challenge of the cup tie, having made seven changes for what was the team's fourth match in 10 days. He acknowledged it was "always tricky" to face a Championship side after the high-profile league games against Crystal Palace, Liverpool, and Chelsea.
Middlesbrough manager Kim Hellberg was left with "mixed feelings," believing his side had a chance to win after hitting the crossbar through Tommy Conway soon after Wilson's equaliser. "I felt we had a good chance to win it, and it was there for the taking," Hellberg said.
As Fulham enjoy a six-match unbeaten run, the focus now shifts to whether the club can secure the future of one of its key performers, whose contract situation adds a layer of intrigue to the second half of their season.
