Jadon Sancho has been offered a contract worth around £10,000-per-week by Getafe as the free agent searches for his next club. The 26-year-old was released by Manchester United this summer after a difficult spell at Old Trafford.
United signed the winger in a £73million package deal in 2021, but Sancho managed just three goals and three assists in his first season in England, followed by six goals and three assists in 26 appearances during 2022/23.
Loan Spells and Release
Sancho returned to Borussia Dortmund on loan the following season but failed to rediscover his previous Bundesliga form. A loan to Chelsea then followed in 2024/25, with the west London club holding a £25m obligation to sign him permanently, but Chelsea refused and paid a £5m fine to send him back.
Another season-long loan to Aston Villa followed last term, with the Villans showing no desire to sign the player at its conclusion. Sancho was subsequently released by United this summer and has remained a free agent since.
Getafe Offer and Current Form
According to the Telegraph, Getafe have offered Sancho a contract until the end of the season, paying him just £10,000-per-week. This is a significant drop from the £250,000-per-week he reportedly earned at Manchester United.
While Sancho has not ruled out a move to the La Liga side, it is claimed he wants to meet head coach Jose Bordalas before making a decision. Getafe currently sit 15th in the Spanish top flight, having managed just two wins from their opening nine games.
Bordalas Tensions
Bordalas, appointed in 2023, has publicly criticised Getafe's hierarchy this season over limited squad depth, having previously voiced concerns about competing every three days with La Liga and Conference League commitments.
He told the media: "I feel deceived because what has been promised year after year hasn't been fulfilled. I'm angry. I've been warning about this since May, that it was going to be a very difficult season with matches every three days. It's been proven that we don't have the squad for it."
Club president Angel Torres responded via Cadena SER: "He signed because he wanted to. Anyway, he's free to leave. If we're so bad, what can we do? This is Getafe. What I don't understand is what you're doing here if you're unhappy and I already knew it. To say that I deceived him...you have to be as shameless as stone to tell me, after 30 years, that I deceived him. But well, what he needs to do is respect the players, just as the players respect him."
