Newcastle United are set for a busy final few weeks of the summer transfer window as they look to add more players to Matthias Jaissle's squad. The Magpies have already signed five players, and want to add to that number, with up to four more potential incoming deals.
Replacement for Bruno Guimaraes and full-back cover needed
United need to find a replacement for Bruno Guimaraes after his move to Arsenal, while they are also desperately short of cover in the full-back areas. Jaissle wants time to assess his squad after taking over from Eddie Howe last week, but decisions will need to be made relatively quickly.
There could be more departures, with the likes of Nick Pope, Jacob Murphy and Joe Willock consistently linked with moves away from St James' Park, with Celtic said to be keen on keeper Pope.
Jaissle's transfer verdict after Everton defeat
Matthias Jaissle pulled no punches after the 3-1 defeat to Everton last night, with more players needed. When asked if a right-back and a central midfielder were needed, Jaissle said: "That's right. But you're smart. I will never tell you publicly. Like I said that already, we handle these things internally with all the respect to the decision makers. And will always continue like that."

Deadline day on the horizon
The clock is ticking on Newcastle's bid to add to Matthias Jaissle's squad, with deadline day now firmly on the horizon. There's also the small matter of the opening game with Liverpool now just 10 days away, with United needing more work in the market.
