Manchester United have been presented with two potential swap deals that could end Marcus Rashford's career at Old Trafford. The 28-year-old is currently on loan at Barcelona, where he has impressed with 14 goals and 14 assists in 49 appearances this season. However, his return to United may be short-lived if the club acts on the proposals.
The first proposal, backed by former United defender Jaap Stam, involves a straight swap with AC Milan's Rafael Leao. The Portuguese winger, who has a £131 million release clause, has been linked with a move to Manchester for months. Stam told ComeOn: 'Maybe a swap between Rafael Leao and Marcus Rashford could work. Leao is also a good player. He has shown his potential at Milan.'
The second option would see Rashford move permanently to Barcelona, with United signing midfielder Marc Casado in return. Mundo Deportivo reports that United have expressed interest in the 22-year-old Spanish international, who started only 10 league games for Barcelona this season. A deal could help Barcelona secure Rashford without paying the £26 million purchase option.
Barcelona have not yet activated their clause for Rashford, but teammate Frenkie de Jong has urged him to stay. Speaking to Sport, de Jong said: 'In the minutes he's played, he has given us a lot: goals, assists, depth. He is a fast player... I would be delighted if he continued with us.'
