Manchester United have submitted an improved offer of £60 million for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo, with the London club holding out for a deal worth around £65 million including add-ons. The 25-year-old Cameroon international is valued similarly to Matheus Cunha, for whom United were willing to pay a £62.5 million release clause at Wolves, but Brentford are demanding more due to Mbeumo's younger age.
Mbeumo would earn at least £150,000 per week at Old Trafford, matching Cunha's salary bracket. Last season, Mbeumo scored 20 league goals, outperforming Cunha's 15. United view Mbeumo as a key target to bolster their attack under head coach Ruben Amorim.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are considering reviving their interest in United winger Alejandro Garnacho and could include Christopher Nkunku in a potential deal. Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca wants a new wide player this summer, and Garnacho, who was a target in January, may be pursued again if the club fails to sign Borussia Dortmund's Jamie Gittens, with Bayern Munich also in the race.
Nkunku has struggled with injuries since joining Chelsea for £52 million in 2023, making only 43 appearances and scoring 14 goals. The France international has been out of favour under Maresca, playing just six minutes at the Club World Cup. While Nkunku is open to a move, United have other attacking priorities, including Mbeumo, and no formal contact has been made yet.
Amorim's search for a new centre-forward has faced setbacks, with top target Liam Delap choosing Chelsea and Viktor Gyökeres preferring Arsenal. The club continues to explore options to strengthen their frontline.
