Man Utd's Final Rashford Decision: £28m Exit Looms Despite Amorim Sacking
Man Utd decide to sell Marcus Rashford permanently

Manchester United have reached a definitive verdict on the future of Marcus Rashford, with the England forward set to leave the club permanently this summer, irrespective of who is in the dugout. This decision comes despite the recent sacking of manager Ruben Amorim, under whom Rashford was frozen out before his loan move to Barcelona.

Irreversible Exit from Old Trafford

The club's hierarchy, rather than the now-departed Amorim, has led the call for Rashford to be moved on. This stance is reportedly firm and extends to several other high-profile loanees, including Jadon Sancho, Rasmus Hojlund, and Andre Onana, signalling a major squad overhaul at Old Trafford. The news, broken on Monday following Amorim's dismissal, confirms that a potential return under a new manager is off the table for the 28-year-old academy graduate.

Rashford's Barcelona Loan and Flick's Praise

Rashford is currently halfway through a season-long loan at La Liga champions Barcelona, who secured his services last July. The Catalan giants hold an option to make the transfer permanent for a fee of £28 million next summer. So far, Rashford has contributed seven goals and eight assists in 25 appearances, primarily operating from the left wing.

Barcelona boss Hansi Flick has publicly praised the forward's professionalism and attitude. "His attitude, mentality is great," Flick stated. "In the beginning, he had to adapt a little bit, but now he's on his best level... The mentality he has is fantastic and I am really happy he is here." Despite facing increased competition for minutes following Raphinha's return from injury, Rashford remains focused on impressing.

The Player's Stance and What Happens Next

Rashford himself has made his desires clear, telling Spanish publication Sport that his "ultimate goal" is to stay at Barcelona beyond this season. "Barca is a huge, fantastic club, built to win titles," he said, emphasising his commitment to the cause.

While Barcelona are yet to formally activate their purchase option, the combination of Flick's admiration, Rashford's productive spell, and his public wish to stay suggests a deal is plausible. However, United's position is now unequivocal: Marcus Rashford's 18-year association with the club is set to end in 2026, closing a significant chapter for both the player and the Red Devils.
