Julian Alvarez Snubs Arsenal, Sets Sights on Barcelona Stay

Julian Alvarez has reportedly made a final decision over a potential move to Arsenal this summer, with the Argentine striker opting against a transfer to the Premier League club. According to Spanish outlet Cadena SER, Alvarez has no interest in joining Arsenal or Paris Saint-Germain, and only has eyes for Barcelona.

The 24-year-old World Cup winner was considered Mikel Arteta’s dream signing to bolster the Gunners’ attack, with interest dating back over a year. However, Arteta opted for Viktor Gyokeres last summer, who had a successful debut season, scoring key goals in Arsenal’s Premier League title win but being overlooked in major matches, including the Champions League final.

Alvarez has attracted significant interest ahead of the summer transfer window, with Barcelona and PSG also keen. Atletico Madrid are desperate to keep their star forward and have publicly vented frustration over media speculation, particularly regarding Barcelona’s interest.

Despite earlier indications that an exit from Atletico was likely, Alvarez is now most likely to stay with the Spanish club. He is happy to remain in Madrid and will not push for a move. Atletico are not open to negotiations with Barcelona, and as it stands, no discussions are ongoing, meaning the player will stay put.
