Manchester United have made Chido Obi available for a loan move this summer, with the 18-year-old striker yet to convince manager Michael Carrick he is ready for regular senior football.
Obi has made eight first-team appearances for the Red Devils, all during the 2024/25 season. Carrick has not picked him at all in the second half of the last campaign, and the club is now willing to let the teenager gain experience elsewhere.
Massive interest in loan deal
Danish publication TipsBladet reports there is "massive interest" in Obi from both England and abroad. However, Manchester United are also open to keeping the young forward at the club, given a busy schedule that includes a return to European football.
Any loan departure will only be approved if the right environment offers regular playing time for the promising youngster.
Youngest starter and Under-21 form
Obi became the youngest player to start a Premier League match for Manchester United in May 2025, aged 17 years and 156 days, when he lined up against Brentford. He continued to score regularly for the Under-21 side last season, netting 19 goals in 40 appearances.
United believe they have enough attacking options to allow Obi to leave. Joshua Zirkzee has been heavily linked with a summer exit after two unconvincing seasons, while Marcus Rashford is expected to return to the first team but could still depart. Benjamin Sesko is the only real out-and-out centre-forward in the squad, with Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo also capable of playing there.
