Andy Burnham 100 days as PM: readers vote on his premiership

Andy Burnham has now been Prime Minister for 100 days after Sir Keir Starmer bowed to overwhelming pressure and quit. The former mayor of Greater Manchester arrived in Downing Street promising to transform the UK.

Key policies and actions

Since taking office, Mr Burnham has removed VAT from household electricity bills, announced a £2 cap on bus fares for some services in England, pledged to end rough sleeping and proposed a "national care service". He has also taken steps to cut the triple lock pensions guarantee and reopened the Brexit debate.

Public opinion and polling

Pollsters from Opinium have said Mr Burnham is the only party leader with a positive net approval rating, outpacing Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch and Reform UK's Nigel Farage.

A poll published earlier in October by YouGov reported 46% of Britons view Mr Burnham favourably while 42% see him unfavourably – the highest level since he became PM. His net favourability rating in October was +4, down from a peak of +13 in August, according to YouGov.

Asked about whether they approve or disapprove of the Labour Government, 51% told the same pollster they disapproved while 26% signalled their approval, as of Monday (October 26).
