Crystal Palace have reached an agreement with Tottenham Hotspur for a club-record £35 million transfer of Brennan Johnson, though the Wales forward has yet to commit to the move amid strong interest from Bournemouth. The south London club are seeking attacking reinforcements after a congested schedule of 30 games this season, compounded by Ismaïla Sarr's absence at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Johnson, who joined Tottenham from Nottingham Forest for £47.5 million in September 2023, has started only six Premier League games this term under manager Thomas Frank. Despite scoring the winner in the Europa League final last season, the 24-year-old has seen limited playing time, sparking speculation over his future.
Bournemouth are expected to match Palace's offer as they prepare for the departure of Antoine Semenyo, who is close to joining Manchester City for £65 million. Other clubs including Aston Villa, Brentford and Everton have been linked but have not made formal approaches. Johnson is expected to decide in the coming days.
Tottenham manager Thomas Frank confirmed Johnson remains part of his plans but hinted at potential squad changes. "He contributed to a very good and important win against Crystal Palace," Frank said. "We will be in the market, but additions must improve the team." If Johnson leaves, Spurs may target RB Leipzig's Yan Diomande, Monaco's Maghnes Akliouche, or Juventus' Kenan Yildiz.
