Bournemouth set £100m price for Alex Scott as Chelsea and Liverpool circle

Bournemouth are prepared to allow England international Alex Scott to leave in the January transfer window, but only if a bid of about £100 million is received and the club is comfortable with its Premier League position.

The midfielder has attracted significant interest, with Chelsea and Liverpool heavily linked over the summer. Scott's former Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola is now in charge at Anfield, while the Blues are seeking a replacement for Enzo Fernandez, who moved to Manchester City.

Contract situation and England breakthrough

The 23-year-old, who joined from Bristol City in 2023, has impressed in his most recent Premier League season. He earned a place in Thomas Tuchel's England squad and won his first two caps during the recent international break.

Scott has reportedly rejected offers of a new contract at Bournemouth earlier this year. The BBC report that another round of talks has taken place between the club's hierarchy and Scott's representatives, with the Cherries now open to a January exit.

Manager's difficult start and injury blow

New manager Marco Rose has had a tough start in terms of results, yet to win a Premier League game and with just three points from six matches. If Bournemouth feel they need Scott to help avoid relegation, they may not sanction a sale in January.

Scott is under contract until 2028, still on the same deal he signed when joining from Bristol City. The Cherries will feel increasing pressure to sell as 2027 progresses.

Scott picked up a quad injury while with the England camp and is set to be sidelined for around a month, with Rose clearly frustrated by the situation.

'It's an injury from a muscle, and we'll do pictures [scans] in some days again,' Rose said last week. 'But we're going to miss him, for sure, for four or five weeks. I'm very disappointed and it's a big loss.'

'We miss a very important player, but I don't want to blame anyone. We are very happy that he made his debut for the English national team. He did well and we just hope that he is getting fit again quite soon.'
