Bayern Munich are eager to hand in-demand winger Michael Olise a lucrative new contract to fend off interest from European giants such as Real Madrid and Liverpool. The 24-year-old is currently showcasing his talents at the World Cup with France after a stellar season at Bayern, where he won the Bundesliga Player of the Year award.
Olise's future has been the subject of intense speculation, with Real Madrid reportedly preparing a world-record bid of £190 million. Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked with the former Crystal Palace star, who left Selhurst Park in a deal worth up to £51 million in July 2024.
The Frenchman signed a contract running until 2029, but Bayern now want to extend his stay. Multiple reports indicate that club officials at the Allianz Arena are willing to offer him a new five-year contract to secure his long-term future. His salary would increase from £13 million per season to an eye-watering £22 million, crucially more than what he would earn in Madrid.
Bayern president Herbert Hainer insists the club will not entertain offers for Olise. Speaking to Bild, Hainer said: "Michael Olise is a Bayern Munich player who still has a long-term contract - and we are not a club that sells players. If Florentino Perez wants to send us an offer - which hasn't happened yet - he can save himself the trouble."
Former Bayern chief Karl-Heinz Rummenigge echoed this sentiment, stating that the German giants would not 'flinch' at any price tag. He recalled a story from 2009 when Chelsea made an incredible offer for Franck Ribery that would have set a new world transfer record. After discussing it for two hours, the club made a fundamental decision: never to sell a player they would miss on the pitch. "This unwritten rule still applies today. For a player like Olise, there's no price tag that would make us flinch," Rummenigge said.
Rummenigge praised Olise, calling him a "wonderful player" who is reserved and media-shy. "He's a great guy, and on the pitch, he's outstanding. The way he plays football is almost magical. So it doesn't surprise me that he's incredibly popular and hyped among our fans," he added.
Olise registered 15 goals and 21 assists in 32 league games for Bayern as they retained the Bundesliga title. He also notched two assists in France's 3-1 win against Senegal at the World Cup on Tuesday.
